There is definitely a lack of places to sit, whether in the bedroom, the terrace and the chairs at the various swimming pools. We were five in the room with only one chair. Our terrasse had only two places to sit.

The hot springs were incredible, a great variety of pools and temperatures. Surprisingly, my favorite part was the super fast water slide into the cool pool. The volcano viewing point was lovely and we kayaked the lake below for only ten dollars. Inolvidable!

The property has so much to offer from hot spring pools to adventure activities to incredible views of Volcan Arenal. The room was spacious, bed very comfortable, and bathroom modern. It is an easy drive to La Fortuna and very close to other wonderful hot spring spas like Baldi. The breakfast buffet was by far the best we experienced in Costa Rica. And the staff were the friendliest from the front desk clerk (Johan) to the horseback riding guide (Mario). Also La Fortuna is very reasonably priced and less cramped compared to properties in Manuel Antonio.

Staff are friendly. Breakfast buffet was really good. Rooms are cleaned everyday and they’re big. For a bird lover, I saw so many different varieties, especially around the lake. It’s very scenic, as well. We had a great experience.

Pros: VERY VERY nice hotel with multiple large superb hot spring pools that are easy to hang around in for hours. Also multiple pools that are not heated. Restaurants and breakfast very good. Grounds are enormous with their walking paths and lots and lots of fauna/orchids. Amenities all round are very good. Drive the volcano road on the property itself for the best view in all Arenal of the volcano!!!! Rooms very large and comfortable. Easy drive to town and the national parks. We would book again! Cons: Make sure you do NOT get booked near the new construction - they should not be booking rooms that close!!. This was literally 10 feet from our room and we spent 30mins getting it changed. Rooms have just 2 power outlets for the entire room - bring power adapter. Some Hotel rooms are 50 yds up a very steep hill. Not an issue for us but would be for elderly and if you have to lug large suitcases.

Beautiful resort, great pools. Breakfast was good. Ate at pool restaurant and it was good. Staff working hard but busy so wait times for drinks was long at times but not a big deal. Room was large and clean. Only complaint/comment really is we were right next to a building under construction and crew arrived by 7 am each morning and was somewhat loud/dusty work. We were usually awake but if you like to sleep in or enjoy balcony in the morning - ask for different building than 100’s. The good thing about location is everything was quick walk.

Beautiful property, wonderful staff, shout out to Johan at the front desk. Nice pools, aesthetically pleasing, landscape was beautiful. If I were to make a suggestion after spending 4 nights, I'd recommend the rooms could greatly benefit from having a full length mirror, better lighting... especially in the bathroom, and hooks on the wall to hang stuff.

Not as good as other hot spring hotels

This hotel is fine but despite the huge property size, the number and quality of hot springs pools is underwhelming, especially compared to nearby resorts such as Baldi and Tabacon. With this much space, Los Lagos should really create more hot springs pools, as the ones they have tend to be very crowded and there is only one bar/restaurant out by the pools. Similar or even smaller size resorts in the area have more. The staff were friendly and the food was pretty good! The grounds are pretty and ENORMOUS. But despite all the space, it seems like LL hasn’t invested enough into the entertainment and hot springs experience - which is the primary reason to stay at a big hotel in Arenal after all.

A perfect home-base in La Fortuna!

Our extended family (7 people, ages 3 to 80 years old) had an amazing stay. We enjoyed the pools (hot-springs) as a base for adventures around town. The rooms were spacious and the staff friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had something for everyone. The property is well maintained and allowed us to view nature right from our balcony-- birds (toucan!) as well as the coati. The waterslide was a hit with everyone -- as were the pools of different temps. The ONLY suggestion I can think to make would be to add more hooks to dry towels (in the very large bathroom) and on the balconies for suits, and other items.
