Well located - flat 5 min walk to large Westfield complex, 7 min drive to University of Canberra, where I was attending for the week. Probably would have been about a 20-25 min walk to UC and there is a footpath all the way, but there are a couple of hills that would have to be walked up to get there. Property itself is a little dated but the rooms were clean enough (just). The grounds were very untidy with rubbish in the carpark and grassed areas unmowed. As a Mum who looks after everyone all week, I was looking forward to coming back to the hotel every night to my bed being made by someone else as happens in other hotels, but I had to make my own bed☹️. It’s a small thing, but it would have helped me to feel much more comfortable and would have earned another star from me. I booked about 2 months in advance and the price was reasonable for what was on offer. I would have been very disappointed if I’d paid more. Best to book with the property direct rather than a 3rd party booking site. I booked and paid in full, then realised a month later that I needed to reduce my stay by 1 night. Because I hadn’t booked directly through the property, they said they could not adjust the booking and refund me for the night I left early. Overall, fine if you only need a place to sleep.

We found the motel was really convenient as far as location and eating. The fresh food markets were across the roads and Westfields shopping centre 5 mins walk up the road. The motel is old and decor tired but it was reasonable rates and clean which is all you need.

3 day business trip with ups and downs
First night was fantastic, lovely large king room, very quiet. Tv in bedroom did not work, and shower rose fell off when I tried to adjust the angle, reported and shower fixed asap, tv no such luck, bed was super soft which left me with aches and pains and in need of a physio, 2 nd night, I could hear neighbors on both sides in their rooms, soundproofing needs to be looked at. 3 rd night was all good again, no neighbors

Reception closed at 9:30am so I couldn't check out. Even though staff hours was supposed to be 8-11am. Rang the after-hours phone and it went to an answering machine. Left my phone number for them to call me back. It is now over 8 hours later and no one has called me back still.

General down-market experience. Unappealing very basic room in need of major refurbishment. Chosen for proximity to a particular venue over usual hotels in Canberra. On reflection should have stuck to the tried & tested CBD hotels. Only positive to remark on was the consideration of the young man in reception arranging an early check-in to our room to freshen up for a mid-afternoon wedding we were attending. Thank you for that.
