The property is pretty dated, but by the same time pretty well maintained. You wont mistake it for a modern facility but its not falling down around you. Its also basic. No pool or spa or restaurant, but if thats what you need then you have to pay more than the budget price YEHS charges. Its basic, but you get what you pay for. Great shower, nice big room (going by the one I was in anyway). Staff were friendly but not intrusive. Location is absolutely perfect. Great option when all you need is a quiet place to rest your head at night.

This is an excellent choice for the traveller who values budget options. Only a couple of hundred metres walk from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne with access to all trains and Airport Skybus. Great cafes and dining options in same street. Hotel is secure with card access needed for lifts and rooms. Room was of ample size, bed is comfortable with good pillows supplied. Room was clean and shower very hot. Need to able to climb up over edge of bath into shower with handrail in place. Building is old and furniture dated but OK with this.

Staff were very friendly but that is as far as the positives go. Bathroom was very dirty upon arrival, like it hadn’t even been cleaned, there was still toothpaste in the sink and the shower was very dirty. The bed didn’t have a top sheet and under the main sheet was a massive brown stain on the bed which was very off putting. No overhead light in the room and there were only three wall lights, two of which were not working, which led us to spend the night in nearly complete darkness. Very disappointing, will not stay here again, worth paying the small extra to go to a nicer hotel.

Great location for Southern Cross station, but probably a bit close to Spencer St end of town. The other side of Queen is probably a better location for shoppig /dining/nightlife. But great value, even though its a bit gritty. Staff were friendly. Lofts didnt work one day I was there for the morning, but were fixed by the afternoon. Take advantage of the parking deal.

Bare minimum clean hotel that's near the central station. Staff could be more friendlier in welcoming and helping but they were able to check in and the neighborhood was good.

It was actuality quite uncomfortable as i stayed in a room that was to hot, the air-conditioning system only went to 19°, which we have never heard of before, we asked to move to another room and it was exactly the same, we wouldnt have been surprised if everyone in the building complained of the heat, as the air-conditioning is,supposedly to go as low as 16°, its a poor effort and it would nice to be offered a refund as the night was a horrible experience, also staff stated that my $100 security deposit would be back into my account after check it out, we checked out on the 6th of jan, it is now the 8th and still no $100 back into my friend's account yet, i hope atleast for the hotels sake this gets rectified asap other wise we will be taking it further. Great location just minutes from Southern Cross Station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quiet with minimal outside noise or hallway noise heard. Looks to be a former Ibis hotel. Room was ok, bath was short but deep with shower over. Bathroom could do with a thorough clean - it obviously only gets a quick wipe over so grout and tub had soap scum residue. Budget friendly. With a thorough clean and brighter lighting it would be more appealing but overall not a bad place to.stay.

Not very clean in the room or bathroom. Lift was not working and had to carry luggage 6 floors on my own. No offer of assistance. I've stayed at Yehs in Sydney before and booked in Melbourne expecting the same level of cleaniness and service but was very wrong.

It's my second time staying here, and the room I got this time was nicer as the floors had been remodelled (no more carpet). Location is great. Some dust in the bathroom door, but rest of the bathroom was clean. Beds have wheels so they move quite easily on the new floors, but it's not a big deal for me. Overall, great value for money. Walkable to MCEC, southern cross station and city centre.

First and foremost: I DO understand it's a budget hotel. But there's budget, and then there's pubic hair on the edge of the bathtub, a cracked sink and dust that's been there with the dinosaurs. And a stench of smoke in a non-smoking room. Might have something to do with ventilation — the whole floor smelled like an ashtray. I don't know if everybody gets that lucky at YEHS or just us, but our experience was for sure below expectations. At least the bed was okay, and location's good. P.S. To the hotel: I hope you guys can fix this. Because it's not the fancy that people need from you - it's just clean and neat.
