10 Minute Walk from Downtown & Great Value

👍 Like my review! We had a 4 night stay at Pinewood Lodge in Queenstown, New Zealand as part of our journey across the country. The place was of great value due to a 10 minute walk to downtown, very fast internet, and free (but limited) parking. The check in process was smooth with a helpful staff including Marwin & Camila. Since we paid for a room in unit V, we were given a private bedroom and private bathroom. The queen-sized and twin-sized beds with pillows were comfortable alongside a desk with a chair, plenty of outlets, closet space, television, kettle for drinks (instant coffee, tea, chocolate, sugar, milk). The bathroom was average with an effective toilet, small sink, and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) but also had an unusual standing shower with a top cover and weak shower head. There are also breakfast, laundry, and vending machines for a fee. At the time of our stay, the hot tub was unavailable. The shared living room and kitchen for units U and V was helpful with sofa, table, chairs, cutlery, plates, bowls, fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, toaster, kettle, and stovetop. Depending on the guests, the shared space can be anywhere between clean to very messy. Given that Pinewood Lodge offers multiple types of accommodations including a hostel type of accommodation, we were not surprised that we would meet many types of people from around the world and a range of ages throughout the property. We would consider staying here again and would recommend it!

accommodation was awesome, tidy, clean, well-stocked kitchen utensils - great view to boot. and the fact we could walk to wherever we needed to go meant no parking hassles so saved on time and money.

We had a lovely stay at Pinewood Lodge. The room is clean and the size is just right for my small family. The shared kitchen is well maintained and got everything that we needed like pots and pans, plates and cutleries. The staffs are all kind, friendly and accommodating. The place is very convenient and you can walk 10 minutes or less to the QT city center.

Very clean and comfortable! The shared bathrooms were in great condition, perfect water pressure and the communal kitchen area had everything we needed and was always kept clean. Check-in was efficient and friendly, and laundry was easy! Great stay!

Only stay here if you truly do not care about the quality of your stay. The staff was nice and they definitely try. Beyond that I have nothing good to say. We were in a very run down unit in two private rooms with a communal bathroom, which we expected. We didn’t expect to be sharing the rest of the building with a non-backpacking family that was using the building for a family reunion, which dominated all the communal space with a loud party. The building was extremely run down, uncomfortable beds, leaky toilets, stained carpets, no screens on windows, etc. and the family reunion left dirty towels all over the communal bathroom. We’d just come off the Milford and we’re already used to sharing living space with strangers, including common sleeping rooms, but the Pinewood kind of made it seem like ALL their buildings are newly renovated and were were seriously disappointed by the rough conditions of our building and the rowdy communal space. If you stay here ONLY stay in rooms with en-suite bathrooms and clarify that you expect a new unit. Unless, as I said, you seriously don’t care. Also- it’s a hike from the center of town, which, again, we knew. But don’t expect to be close to things. Sorry wish I could say better things because I know the staff is trying.

The rooms were small but very clean. The common bathroom was not clean. We shared it with other suites and wet towels were left in the showers and urine was on the floor and seat of the toilets.

Parking is first come first serve. So not every guest would be able to get parking space. And street parking is incredibly hard to find. However, Great location and views. Just a 5min to drive to Skyline.

You get what you pay for. The parking space is not sufficient for all rooms, so it's a flawed advertisement of free parking available on first basis. Basically, limited parking. On top, they kept reserved half of the space for paid parking, which costs around $20/night. We couldn't find any parking even on the neighbourong streets. So, if you are coming by car, and definitely need a parking, please be prepared to factor that per night parking fee in the cost. Deluxe double rooms with one double bed and two bunk beds, are extremely small space for luggages of four guests. The shower hot water was ok, but the water was pooling around the base due to poor flow. The basin doesn't have a mix tap for hot and cold water, just have two separate taps, which is rare in this age. (How can one use warm water?!) . The kitchen facility was very basic. There's no TV in the room, and the only TV in the kitchen is probably max 32" and not in a position to watch by sitting really (basically the sofas are on the door way of the kitchen). The driveways within the property are narrow, and if one is not careful or not having front/rear camera or sensors, there's a high likelihood to damage the car. The only good thing is its location. It's walkable to city centre and food options (10-15 mins walk). Everything is overpriced at year-end season, so the price/value is a relative factor. If I find a better place at similar or slightly higher price, won't stay again, but can tolerate the stay i need to!

Booked a CABIN for 2 nights on Expedia.co.nz for $334- - get to property and the 'cabin' was actually a budget room. Basically a box with 2 single beds. Complained to check-in staff and they say is an Expedia booking error. So in order to get what we wanted it cost an additional $330 but we were given a discounted rate of $250 ******TOTAL SCAM******
