A sadly unsafe and uncomfortable experience
This apartment has an amazing view, truly stunning. That's the best feature of this rather dated and tatty apartment. Lots of mould, hair on beds, defective appliances etc. The people at check-in were friendly and kindly put our bags to one side before we checked in at 2pm.
However, someone had scheduled fire maintenance during the middle of our stay - we had no clue until I bumped into the 'fire guy' on my way to notify the desk of a significant leak in one of the bathrooms at 8:30am. He needed access to the roof and was professional. We were also told an engineer would come and fix the leak. We left the apartment at around 10am and came back at lunchtime for a rest. We saw that the leak had been attended to (not fixed and I had to put a bowl down to catch the water) and we could hear the 'fire guy' working outside, comfortable he busy. The lifts to the apartment open directly into the main living area, anyone with access can enter the apartment. We assumed management would warn us of any incoming guests. Wrong. I was standing opposite the lifts, partially dressed when the lift doors suddenly opened containing two confused, embarrassed maintenance workers, looking for the 'fire guy'. I was shocked and pretty upset to say the least. From then on, we felt unsafe and uncomfortable. The lack of communication and privacy for a 'premium' apartment is not acceptable.
Our formal complaint made 3/9/24 has yet to be addressed by Stayz or The Waterford.
