We specifically chose the property as it advertised parking, yet when we got there we found that parking was not available on the property and to park on the street for free between 7pm and 7am. As it was Valentines Day...there was no parking and who wants to have to wake before 7am to shift their vehicle. Subsequently, we parked in the Carpark next door only to find that doesn't open the next day and we needed to pay a hefty penalty to have someone attend the carpark to let our car out....causing us to miss our next flight.

The room was a little below average. There was a lot of noise from other rooms and in the hallway. The shower did not have shower curtains they were normal window curtains. The staff while we were there were very helpful and friendly.

Don’t look to close!
The young man at the desk was very polite. This property is in prime position in Lygon Street. BUT…. The place needs a good clean, on the surface it looks clean but don’t look too close. The door to our room needed a good wipe down, entering the room your senses are offended by the smell of stale cigarette smoke. The shower head wouldn’t stay up and the top of it was filthy. The kitchen bench had a chunk missing out of it, definitely should not pass health inspection. The balcony was dirty and needed a good sweep. The hallway carpet needed a good vacuum and tiles a good mop. Such a shame that this Hotel has not or is not maintained, as it has great potential. And just needs a good deep clean.

I read the reviews after booking and was preparing for the worst. What I found was a great, quiet stay that was centrally located, easy to get in and out of, with all the features I needed. The people at the front desk were helpful and friendly, the location was sensational, and I found my apartment was super good value for the price. I had no issue with noise, no weird people popping in my room, no problems with the shower, found my room clean, didn't face any of the issues others had described. TBH, what bothered me most about my stay is listening to the way some of the older Australians spoke to people at reception and the way they carried on. It was embarrassing at times to hear people berating a solid 3 to 3.5 star hotel for not being more like some upper echelon hotel, and hearing people having orders barked at them. And the casual racism I saw and heard was really gross, especially when people tried to get me to join in on their eyerolls and carry on in the elevator. The hotel has been around a while, so it's not fancy or super modern. But it's incredibly reasonably priced, the staff work hard, and the location is sensational. You can't expect a balcony overlooking Lygon street to be quiet, nor can you choose to have a week in Melbourne at this price while also having the fanciest joint in town. As a traveler, it sometimes comes down to picking and choosing what you want from the experience, and not being a jerk about stuff when a little patience would do.

Hidden Gem in Carlton with everything you need. Kichen, utensils, desk TV, spacious, balcony, great staff and car park (limited spots). Bathroom looked newly renovated. Restaurant next door can deliver meals. Will definitely go back
