Wont be staying here again
While we were staying here for a military graduation we found the to be a very unpleasant stay. We were so busy during the days but to be in a room with a leaky bathtub faucet constantly while try to sleep was frustrating. We also had an air/heat hurt that didn’t turn on and a toilet that continuously plugged up. The basic necessities were not provided. Our family in a joining room had a broke iron and leaking bathroom sink causing floor to be wet. The parking was good , decent breakfast as well. This is not motels fault but behind motel we encountered people shooting up drugs. I’m grateful we were not in our room a whole lot but again just needed the basic functions of a room and it just wasn’t there.

Asked for a room with 2 beds and handicap accessible shower. Upon arrival was told none available. Contacted Howard Johnson via text and was told they would get back to me. Issue was never resolved. 3 times I brought this issue. Totally disappointed with this.

This Hotel is old. Closet had bad smell. Carpet was old however vacuum you do it wont make a difference. Bathroom and electrical fittings were broken. With homeless people situation I won’t consider that hotel next time to stay with family.

Terrifying, no amenities, cigarettes everywhere
Horrific! The “five beach bars” don’t exist. Neither does the restaurant. There’s cigarette butts and cigarette stink everywhere for a hotel that says it’s non-smoking. I was too scared to stay there as a solo woman. I canceled it and went to the Holiday Inn (which was great, highly recommend) just to feel safe and not have all my stuff smelling like an ashtray. I hope Hotels.com isn’t charging me for my cancelled booking.

When we first got there our room was on the other side so we had to leave on the main road to get to the other parking lot then we unloaded all our stuff to find out that the door didn’t lock so we had to load up and to get to our new room we had to leave the hotel to go down the street to u turn the drive down that street to u turn again just to get to the other parking lot where our room was. When we got to our new room to unload one of the lights didn’t work then it smelled like cigarettes so bad in the room and my kids have asthma I had to buy air freshener which didn’t really help then there where only 2 towels in the room so when we asked the maid for more because we are a family of 5 she got mad at us and gave us attitude. In the morning they had apple juice and orange juice but there was never orange juice and the apple juice seemed to be only concentrate and needed water. Wasn’t very convenient to drive to if you had to switch rooms on other sides wasn’t happy at all.

The room door doesn’t work, it got stuck and you had to push it hard and my husband even injured his right shoulder from so much force trying to open it. The bathtub faucet was broken and did not work very well, it was difficult to close it, the carpet was old, dirty and the room smelled of mold. We asked at the reception if they could change our room and they said that were no more rooms available downstairs, we asked for 4 towels, because we didn’t have clean towels and they only gave us one large and one small because there were no more towels, and that the room was cleaned every third day. The truth is, if you come to San Diego to be stressed, to sleep in a room that smells bad, the door to the room does not work and you injure your shoulder to open it, the shower is not suitable for bathing and they do not give you enough towels when need to bath, this is the right hotel for wild and adventure. Please don’t waste your money. I don’t recommend this hotel.

COLD SHOWER so gross! Door lock was so broken. We basically had to kick the door open every time. Just dirty. Like really really dirty. Not a good breakfast. They had waffles, hard boiled eggs, toast, and oatmeal. I am very annoyed with the "breakfast included" flex because I expect more than a complimentary breakfast when I read that. I literally paid more and chose this hotel just to wait in line to make a waffle. And the space for breakfast is so small with 40 people packed inside trying to get a cup of coffee took 10 minutes. Would NOT reccommend.

The sink drain had rust. The faucet was terrible and had a lot of caulking around it. I found a spider in the tub. I think the tub needs repair or refurbished. The faucet in the shower/tub combo needs repair. The plate around the faucet was hanging off you can't tell when you were at the hot or cold level.

FAMILY TRIP
The staff demonstrated exceptional helpfulness and friendliness. Free parking and spacious rooms were appreciated. The bed was firm and clean, but the sofa bed needed cleaning. No charging port was available beside the bed, though the Bible was a welcome amenity. Microwave and fridge were provided. The tissue roll was partially used. Sounds from the next room were noticeable, including snoring. Breakfast was complimentary, with a self-service waffle option. The selection included boiled eggs, bagels, toast and cereal, unlike other motels offering scrambled or sunny-side eggs and muffins. The area felt safe, with frequent police patrols. The motel's location was convenient for shopping and dining.
