Great beach front hotel. We enjoyed sitting outside the restaurant next to the fire pit and people watching as well as the beach as we enjoyed the coffee from the lobby. The coast view rooms have a nice balcony. The room was clean but dated. Kind of felt like they slapped a coat of paint and upgraded the mattresses and jacked up the price. You're basically paying for the location but you can make the most of it if you hang out at the heated pool, free shuttle and enjoy the ample places to hang out with a drink.

I dont understand how anyone can grade this hotel as anything other than a 9 or 10. My wife and I loved our oceanfront room view and sounds of the ocean. The room was clean, and despite what others have said in reviews, we didnt find it outdated at all. Shuttle service was a big part of our enjoyment allowing us the ability to explore the area. It was easy to access and drivers very friendly. So much to do in the immediate area or just a couple of miles away. When we return to the west coast, we will stay at LaJolla Shores Hotel!

We go every year as a cycling group...always the best time! Beds are super comfy, the waves all night long put us to sleep, you can sleep with the slider open and feel totally safe. The beach is busy but it's so fun to people watch. The dining options are literally a 5 minute walk for everything you can imagine (fine dining to pizza and ice cream). Highly recommend.

Family fall break trip!
I stayed here with my spouse and our three kiddos ages 5,8, and 10. There were tons of restaurants in walking distance, lots of free street parking close by, and since we had a beach front room, a wonderful view from the balcony! My kids spent a ton of time going back and forth from the beach to the hotel pool (to warm up!) and it was so easy since the hotel is right on the beach! Front desk workers were awesome, even offering to call the onsite EMT when I told them my daughter had caught some sort of a stomach bug and thrown up out front of the hotel. Likewise they were quick to bring in a rollaway bed and new sheets and comforter when she got sick again later. Loved the waters offered by the desk; saved us a ton since my kids didn't like the taste of the tap water. The games in the courtyard were a hit with my kiddos, and the fact they have chairs and umbrellas and towels and such for loan right as you walk onto the sand outside the hotel (so mom doesn't have to pack all of that or lug it from a car a long ways) was a hit with me! We'll definitely stay here again in the future!

The property needed a major facelift - it was very dated, the carpet was in pretty poor shape in our room, the finishes were quite old. We stayed with our dogs, and they were reasonably dog friendly, but as you couldn’t leave your dogs in your room alone and they didn’t have dog sitters and they aren’t allowed in most common areas, it stung that we had to pay a daily $32 resort fee for amenities that we couldn’t use. One of the towels in our room that was “clean” had a muddy footprint on it. Not overly impressed for the price.
