Very disappointed overall. This is a hotel I used regularly for business over 30 years ago. Returning for the 1st time since then....now living in the US. Yes the rooms need upgrading but the bathroom was unhygienic - using the shower created brown droplets of condensation dripping from complete ceiling not just with the bathtub area. Tried to speak with a manager on arrival also but nobody wanted to invest in a conversation. I was promised an upgrade also - :(

Unpolite personnel. Poor lounge / reception area, very few seats available. Why not make the complete area with sufficient amount of comfortable sofaes and chairs, and a bar. The Bistro with bar was not comfortable for taking a drink and relaxing.

Terrible check in experience !
The check in experience was terrible and ruin all my stay with this hotel…Girl on the check in desk was very rude, lack of professionalism( back of the chair completely laid back) look like she was in a bed not in a desk. Not hand me the key, threw it on the counter. When I explain my daughter it’s a wheelchair user, if I can park on the disable bay her only concerne it’s how long I was park there and if I will pay for the 2 days park.The only thank you I heard was said by me,she even didn’t look at me, Feel really uncomfortable with this situation, and lack of sensitivity and this girl still on training. Get rid of her before she ruin your business! The concierge was very nice and friendly, but I was so nervous I didn’t pay to much attention to him( sorry).

Enjoyable three days. Staff extremely friendly and helpful - special mention for Gulzar the Concierge. The room was comfortable and clean. Only disappointment was the fact that the shower was in the bath rather than separate, and that it had a shower curtain rather than a glass screen. The only other criticism was that after returning from the theatre it was not possible to have a drink at the bar.

The hotel needs updating and the rooms as well. There is a tea tray in the room but the kettles plug does not reach the socket so we had to put the kettle on the floor. And our safe didn't lock

Concierge
Be aware of the concierge when checking out. I asked for a taxi to Paddington and was expecting a regular London cab but Gulzar said we have to book it through him. He called a private car service which cost twice the amount a regular London cab cost to go from Paddington to the hotel. Make sure you know the cost before you get in the car so you don’t get charged too much.

Don’t stay there!!!
Terrible service upon check in. We arrived a little early and were told the room was ready but needed the extra bed to be added and inspection from supervisor. Couldn’t get an answer on how long it would take so we could make a decision to wait or go into central London and come back in the evening. Eventually got the key over an hour later. Receptionists all looking miserable, eating food behind the desk and chewing gum. Walked right by the porter with all out luggage and wasn’t even offered a hand. Room was dated but mostly clean (damp on bathroom ceiling very obvious).Shower and next door’s shower very squeaky and noisy. The quality of image on TV was also very poor but the worst was noise coming from trains just outside every 3 min till late and from 5am in the morning!When I explained, was told hotel was full and that people book there because they like to see the trains!Well, doubt they like them that much at 5am!Offered a breakfast for our inconvenience on check out but when I explained we had to go (appointment in central London we couldn’t miss) and asked if perhaps they could take off my parking charge instead (which worked out the same), was told a plain NO. I asked to speak to a supervisor or Manager to give my feedback to, they couldn’t even be bothered to come out and speak to me!Left very disappointed…not a 4 star experience and would not stay there again or recommend to anyone!Staying there was supposed to be a treat for my kids, definitely wasn’t!!

It is a large hotel, conveniently located. The hotel has restaurants on the property plus several within walking distance. On the negative side, the hotel interior is rather old and showing its age. The lobby is often crowded and noisy.

I have stayed here before. The staff is always friendly and we got upgradet, but unfortunately we were to close to the train tracks and the noise was very loud. We woke up early because noise from the trains and our neighbours. The walls are very thin.

Poor sleep - too noisy
The hotel itself is fine with comfy beds, good shower and great location. The only problem was the hotel is so noisy. The heating was loud so couldn’t be on making the room cold. The noise from guests outside the hotel was loud and went on until very late. There was also an awful squealing noise outside on the last night which we couldn’t work out what it was. All this resulted in 3 terrible night sleep.
