Excellent location, easy walking to many restaurants and easy walking to Paddington Station. The hot breakfast was a great time saver, and excellent in quality and quantity. In general, a pleasant place to stay. The only drawback was that the rooms were on the small side, but we didn't spend much time in our rooms anyway. The front desk associates were helpful and pleasant.

Absolutely wonderful customer service -- everyone working at Mitre House was warm, helpful, and super responsive. The rooms were spotless and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is not modern, but it's charming in its way (the photos on the site are accurate). We paid a premium due to the holiday but the normal pricing is well worth the stay.

Location very good, needs upgrading, the full English breakfast was greasy, tinned and poor quality. The toast, coffee, tea and juice were ok. Had scrambled eggs, on the second day and they were very nice. The bedrooms and bathroom were very small and had to fill the bath with the shower head. The Reception staff we’re not very helpful apart from the Australian / Kiwi lady who was amazing, and very helpful and could give us all the information we needed!

The room was very small, one of which was only big enough to turn around. The bathroom was also very small, and the shower was only big enough to turn around. The room key had to be handed in to the front desk when leaving, but everything else was fine, and the breakfast was very good. It is relatively close to Paddington Station (one of the main transfer stations), and there are many restaurants around.

Christmas Visit
We stayed at Mitre House for 8 days over Christmas 2024. It's in a great location between Paddington Station and Hyde Park with restaurants and grocery/convenience stores within easy walking distance. The building is over 150 years old but the room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the bathroom. There was a draft coming from the windows, but with the curtains drawn at night it wasn't a problem. A full English breakfast was included each morning between 0700 and 0900. Hotel staff were friendly and the front desked is staffed 24/7. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider staying there again.

Hotel with pros and cons.
We booked 3 nights at the hotel to visit London. We were traveling with a car and the free overnight parking in central London was a HUGE benefit. The proximity to Paddington Train station was great, and there was a good selection of restaurants to choose from. There was also a free breakfast which was a good perk before you headed out for the day. Front desk staff were helpful and offered to print out tickets and set us up with a lock box for passports. The decor in the room is not great, the beds were uncomfortable and there was a musty smell in the rooms. There were also no power outlets beside the beds which made things a little frustrating with a family of 3 and 2 outlets. While the breakfast was free, the wait staff spoke broken English and routinely got our orders wrong. If you realize that the hotel is not the Ritz Carlton, and see what you are getting for such a close proximity to central London-parking at no charge ($50-$75?) free breakfast for 3 ($60?) you can look past some of the things that you would expect from a standard hotel room at the same price outside London because of the benefits and the fact it it what you need-a place to sleep while visiting London.

Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from Paddington station with plenty of food and drink options close by. Easy walk to Hyde Park/Kensington Palace etc. Offered a good breakfast, though breakfast can get busy so if you go at peak time expect to wait as the room isnt huge. Options of hot breakfast and/or fruit and/or museli/cereal plus tea/coffee and juice. Fills you up until a late lunch. Staff were friendly. We paid extra for a suite. The room was large but there was a lot of furniture in it (like a trousers press - who uses these?) which meant there wasn't as much space as there could be so we ended up tripping over things. Room was clean and tidy. Shower was a bit problematic when washing hair but once you used it a couple of times you got the hang of it. Would stay again
