It’s situated right near a busy street and a night club so it’s very noisy. I stayed during a heat wave and was on the third floor and there weren’t even shades for all of the windows to keep the sun out, so at night time it was so hot and muggy. Just overall not a very nice place to stay. Didn’t find the staff overly friendly either. But it was the cheapest accommodation I could find with short notice for my time, so I guess you get what you pay for. Had some regret I didn’t splash out a bit more and get a nicer hostel as I was very jet-lagged from my flight and needed some good rest.
Really nice hostel in a fun, trendy, and well-connected area. I’ve stayed numerous times and they recognize me from previous visits! I appreciate the staff members which always helped me out when asked. I also really liked that the shower and toilet were in the room itself.

Disappointing experience
Arrived around 3pm, there weren't any reception staff so we were told to come back later. We had booked a double/twin room and were unlucky it was a twin room. The floor was really duty, there was a previous guest's dirty t shirt and used tissues down the side of the bed, hairs in the shower and no bin. I've stayed here previously and had a very good experience so it's safe to say I'm disappointed.

Decent
Welcoming staff. The room I was in was in was big enough, although poorly insulated: we could hear the club downstairs until 1:30 am, squeaking beds... Not very clean place

Just ok
Good location next to a lively area, but poor sound insulation, not so clean rooms and little to no privacy (no curtains around the beds for instance). The free breakfast was good though
One night a young couple sharing same 4 bed room where one of the two had a 1 bed booking, had sex most of the night, making enough noise which prevented me from sleeping, and next morning I was not feeling comfortable at work, because of that...
Has a decent size common room and they have a free breakfast in the morning which is always a good bonus wen you are trying to save some money. Wifi worked great, bed was clean and comfy, storage under the beds where a decent size for a small backpack or gymbag, early 10am checkout but you can't have everything. 2 lots of security doors (staircase to rooms and your room itself) so the place is safe enough, area around hostel seemed safe enough too. Would recommend it if you are passing by and need a place to crash.
Great place to socialise with other travels. Bathroom /Shower were convenient. Room is small but I only stayed there at nite. Great kitchen. Great location near tons of bars and local food!
Pros:
- great location in Shoreditch for pubs and restaurants
- near Hoxton Station
- my (private) room was v quiet so I got a good night's sleep
- free earplugs
- free bottled water and towels in the private rooms
Cons:
- dirty, scruffy and run-down
- no heating or hot water in the morning (and no apology)
- male receptionist hit on me while I was checking in, really not what I want, especially as a solo female traveller
- dodgy area to leave your car in overnight (mine was broken into)
Overall, I wouldn't stay here again as there are better hostels in London for the same money or less, e.g. Palmer's Lodge or YHA, that are well-connected to Shoreditch by tube.
The bed sheet and blanket was dirty, there was noise even at 1 am and couldn’t sleep at all. I know these features don’t belong to hostel but at least you can warn your customers
Unfriendly girl at reception wouldn’t check me in without photo ID even though I had my booking details and GB residents don’t need to. Unhelpful
Room clean and did what I expected for £15
