My wife & I came to LA to celebrate our 10-Yr wedding anniversary, and stayed overnite at the Metropolitan. The stay itself was uneventful. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the ac worked...all things you'd expect at a decent hotel.
However, the issue we had was with their limited parking. The hotel itself has roughly 20-25 rooms. Unfortunately, they only have 6-8 parking spaces behind the hotel. Good luck parking if you have anything larger than a mid-size SUV.
The picture of ample parking adjacent to their hotel is misleading. That parking is reserved for the hotel across the street. They do have a disclaimer that parking is on a first-come, first serve basis. However, when we checked in at 6:00pm, we were told parking was full and we'd have to park somewhere else. I quickly found a parking spot on the street around the corner and checked in.
Being our 10th anniversary, we went out for the evening and returned at midnight. I dropped my wife off in front, before looking for a place to park. Driving a 3 block radius around the hotel, it LITERALLY took me 1.5 hours to finally find a parking spot on a residential block 2 blocks away! Walking back to the hotel through a rugged neighborhood with homeless encampments everywhere, I worried about my car's safety, and didn't sleep well at all. When I got to the room at 1:40am, my wife was fast asleep and our anniversary celebration was over. Although our car was okay, we are NEVER staying there again!
