Monterey Bay Lodge Pros and Cons
My family arrived in the evening for a two night stay at the Monterey Bay Lodge for my daughters birthday. Pros: - Economical - Pool is clean and enjoyable for kids - Close to the beach, local park and coffee shops - Patio/Balcony is a nice add Cons: - Close to the local airport, extremely loud - Parking lot closes to the gas station is too small, very hard to get in and out. - Rooms are small - Floors very dirty, we had to clean it when we arrived. - Bathroom paint was chipping - TV is mounted way too high - Desk chair does not tuck under the desk and sticks out into the room. - No public bathroom for the pool - No cushions on the outdoor furniture during the month of November.

We were looking for a dog-friendly property so we chose this one. The dog-friendly rooms have nice floors, not carpet, for easy cleaning, and everything was very clean. The room was very small, with the sink counter tucked partially behind a half-wall, and the microwave and coffee maker were placed on top. The fridge was underneath the sink counter. The bathroom was a small room with the toilet and shower and a door which you could barely close if sitting on the toilet. The bed was fairly comfortable and the pillows were just ok. There was a large, flat screen tv mounted on the wall facing the bed, and it had cable, so that was a plus! Housekeeping was great, and check-in and check-out was a breeze. I would love to see this hotel have some upgrades and remodeled rooms because the location is great! Just across the street is a lake with a lovely walking trail, and the neighborhood is really cute. Both were great places to walk the dog. It’s walking distance to some nice restaurants and breweries as well, and very close to the walking trail along the ocean. Overall, we had a nice stay.

Pretty much all tourist sites are within walking distance. The street to the west can be a bit loud at night. Overall, I can recommend a stay at the Monterey Bay Lodge.

Conveniently located to the Aquarium, but next to a gas station and a busy road. Also, there is no air conditioning, and your sliding door opens onto the building's walkway, so you can't sleep with the door open.

The location of the property was very convenient. Easy access from highway, Centrally located to drive to Aquarium, Point Lobos, Carmel, kayaking at Moss Landing. However this is motel with a pricepoint of a high end hotel. Accomodations dated, laminate chipping, sink chipped, painting needs to freshend up. Our room door opened to look at gas station.
