I recently stayed at Monterrey Portorla, and my experience was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the amenities were quite lovely, and the property itself is visually appealing. The valet parking service was excellent, making it easy to come and go without hassle.
However, my stay was significantly marred by some serious issues. First and foremost, my room had a considerable infestation of black ants. This was particularly inconvenient as they invaded my food and even made their way into the bathroom. I reported this to the front desk, but the problem lingered, detracting from my overall comfort.
Additionally, I found the pricing to be quite steep compared to other hotels in the area. For what I paid, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and service, but unfortunately, this was not the case. There was no breakfast included, which is typically a standard offering at many hotels, and I was frustrated to find that bottled water in the room was charged at $5—something that feels excessive given the overall experience.
Overall, while Monterrey Portorla has some appealing features, the pest issue, high pricing, and lack of attention to cleanliness significantly impacted my stay. I hope they can address these problems for future guests.
