Awful! Terrible! This Hotel should be shut down.
Ruined my weekend! Upon arrival there was no valet service, and no one to assist with luggage. The parking was misrepresented—there was no secure, covered parking as advertised. Check-in was chaotic, handled at the bar by a distracted staff member who was pouring drinks. When I questioned the parking situation, the woman at check-in was rude and dismissive, and another staff member blamed Hotels.com for the incorrect information. Security was inadequate, as one guard bounces from the door to the lot leaving me uneasy about parking my car because there is NO 24hr coverage. Later, the same rude staff member ignored me when I tried to order a drink, prioritizing other guests then serving me with attitude. Hotels.com informed me that the hotel is responsible for updating their listing, revealing the staff’s dishonesty. The next morning, breakfast items listed on the menu were nonexistent, and the staff couldn’t make a proper latte and told me to microwave the milk myself as they were out of supplies. After a long day, I returned to find the parking lot full, despite paying for three days of parking, and my room hadn’t been cleaned. The hotel’s amenities what amenities!? The security staff appeared unprofessional and under the influence the property was littered with trash the same trash all weekend. The small area with grab and go snack had expired sandwiches. I strongly recommend avoiding the Moxy in Downtown Oakland until they make significant improvements.

First time visiting the Bay Area of California and don’t laugh ….The Childish Gambino song Telegraph Ave ? We just decided to go for it and explore only to find out Oakland is not safe at all ! Ha . Overall the hotel wasn’t bad and they had security at the front. Someone was always there . They offer you a free drink from the bar upon check in and everyone was really nice and helpful . The room wasn’t too bad either BUT it’s setup like the rooms in Japan . Extremely small so be aware of that . The bathroom/shower area was really nice ! There were tons of people there on business so maybe that’s what it’s primarily a stay for . The hotel was nice no complaints really . Can’t mention the area because it’s just not safe there . We walked outside and got stares then spoke to the police officer that was at the CBD shop around the corner and they were like “Yeah what are y’all doing here” So if you know what you’re doing and have something going on then the hotel is nice

Clean room and convenient location. Window looked at a paint can left on the roof. Not really good or a necessary detail but it made me laugh. Staff were helpful after I forgot an item. Just wish there were brighter lights in the room. Otherwise a great and convenient hotel.

After long late night transcontinental flight, I arrived at the hotel at two o’clock in the morning—exhausted, eager to check in an and collapse on the hotel bed. To my shock, hotel staff informed me it informed me the hotel was oversold for that evening and no rooms were available. “But I have a reservation…,” I explained. “Yeah, I know,” explained the front desk staff. “Believe me. It happens a lot. And it puts us in a difficult position too when people show up, and we have to tell them they don’t have a room…” Mind you: this is 2 am in the middle of a not-very-safe area on the edge of downtown Oakland. I contacted Expedia to ask them to help me find another room—ANY hotel room—in the area. Expedia staff informed me this would be impossible: It was two o’clock in the morning, and there was no way for them to book me a same-day reservation at a hotel that would allow me to check in that early in the morning. And there was no way to book a room for the remaining hours of the previous night. Mind you, it’s two o’clock in the morning in the middle of a very area on the edge of downtown Oakland… The hotel (a Marriott hotel) also would not help me find a room at another Marriott location.

The room I stayed in was very small and tight. My friend and I stayed the night after a concert at the Oakland arena. There’s great restaurants nearby which is a plus. But it was horrible getting ready, there was hardly any light. The room was very dim which made it hard to get ready. It’s a nice hotel if you are trying to drink down stairs and go back up and rest. Also, they have no parking. You have to walk across the street to park. If you come late, you have to drive up to the front and drive back for someone to open the gate for you. Then you have to walk back across the street. I hated this and found it extra inconvenient if you forget something in your car. Such as your phone charger. They don’t have usb ports to charge up and they also don’t have extra lighting/ lamps to turn on. Kindly note, The staff was very nice and attentive and the facility and room was clean. So the poor rating is not their fault. Corporate should really invest in improving the setting.

I rented this room for my visiting father. Staff were extra helpful, accompanying us to the room, making sure Dad knew how to use the elevator lock and the room key, and they were solicitous of his safety. I can't really speak to the details of the room; it seemed fine.
