I recently stayed at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, and while there were many aspects of my visit that I appreciated, I ultimately left with mixed feelings about my experience. First, let's talk about the positives. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a modern aesthetic that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making check-in a breeze and providing excellent service throughout my stay. The location is also a major plus—conveniently situated near Union Square, it’s easy to access shopping, dining, and attractions. However, despite these positives, I encountered a significant issue that overshadowed my overall experience: the HVAC system. The hotel uses a motion-activated HVAC system, which sounds innovative but proved to be problematic. During the night, when I was trying to sleep, the system would shut off whenever there was no movement detected in the room. As a result, the room quickly became uncomfortably hot and stuffy. I found myself tossing and turning, unable to get a good night’s sleep, which is not what you want when you're traveling. Given the importance of a comfortable sleeping environment, this issue was a deal-breaker for me. While I appreciate the hotel’s efforts to maintain energy efficiency, I would prefer a more traditional HVAC system that allows for consistent temperature control, especially during the night.

Amazinggggg! The staff from check in to check out extremely courteous & efficient. The hotel smelled so good & clean, the bed was comfortable. The indoor pool was great & the gym was even better. Will definitely be back, can’t say enough good things of this hotel.

We had a really mixed experience here. Some staff were amazing, others not so much. For $65/day, one of the main valets seemed annoyed anytime we’d come to get our car (1-2x a day, max). We called to request extra toiletries one day and they never delivered or answered again. We tried getting room service a few times, but the phone would ring endlessly. We had a silicone body scrubber in the shower that I think housekeeping threw away. At the end of our stay, we were charged hundreds of dollars for an involuntary “amenity” fee, despite not using the amenities (no choice and they tell you at checkout). The rooms were clean. Bathrooms a bit dated. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning. But overall, we didn’t find it nearly worth the price or constant add-on fees the hotel charges. We’ve received far superior service at nearly every other hotel we’ve stayed at.

The thing i need to commend is the food. I was at a conference and had the best breakfast and lunch buffet I've ever had at a hotel. Kudos to the chef! The service was very polite and my room had both a shower and a bath. Loved it.
