Hello from the twinkling Heart of Fossgate - York's independent street full of love, life and music. You are so welcome here!

Our apartment is a clean comfortable space with a large fully equipped kitchen and living room designed for comfort and relaxing after a great day exploring York or a lazy morning to plan your day. We are right next door to our very own cafe bar - The Fossgate Social and welcome you in with a really good coffee, food and alcoholic refreshments. Your apartment has a large rooftop patio where you can relax with a glass of your favorite tipple and some yummy local street food from any number of the independent shops, delis, restaurants or cafes in the street. There are regular street festivals throughout the Summer and Autumn - Just step out of your front door and you are in the heart of it all!

Your apartment is situated at the back of the building, and does not overlook the street and the bedroom peeps down to the garden of our cafe bar, so on a busy evening you may experience the chatter from below. The cafe serves until 12.30. Whilst Fossgate is a very central lively hub, it has an alternative feel and doesn't get rowdy or too loud for city centre - if you like the gentle hum of music and life in the background, and being able to step outside and be immersed in York life - we think you will love this place!

We love to boast that Fossgate is the best street in York (it really is!) We are in the Center of the City so everything York has to offer is really close - a few minutes walk from all of the museums, shops, parks, The Minster and at the top of the street are the Medieval Shambles.

Fabulous location! New bath and kitchen. Only suggestion to hosts is to have more detailed instructions on how to work the stove, heating units, and especially the TV for us dumb (and older) Americans.

A Gem in a Fabulous City
This property offers a nearly perfect location to visit the city. So many nearby things to do, to see and to enjoy. The property has everything you’ll need, and is very comfortable. The only minor drawback, as mentioned in other reviews, is the potential for late night revelry from the patio area of the Fossgate Social. Of the 3 nights, my wife was unaffected, and she is typically a light sleeper, while the noise of one night, which ended just after midnight, was more than I could overcome. So I read a little later than usual, not a big deal. The hosts, Mike and Maria are wonderfully responsive. We highly recommend this property.

Amazing!
I come from the US to visit my boyfriend who is in University and Maria and Mike were absolutely wonderful, they gave me 2 sets of keys, one for me and one for my boyfriend which is so helpful in case I’m out and about and he gets out of University unexpectedly early! Upon my arrival, Mike gave me a tour of the flat, answered all my questions, and offered to take out all my rubbish whenever I needed!! He also checked up on me a few times during my stay to make sure everything was well and that I was taken care of! Dishwasher detergent, washing detergent and some other light cleaning items were provided, which is so nice because I cannot stand crumbs on the counters! The location of the flat is perfect, right next to shambles, city center and grocery stores so everything is always accessible. I already have my next trip booked for May and can not wait to return to the unforgettable Fossgate flat❤️

Lovely clean spacious apartment. Great location for visiting the many attractions in York. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept really well. Great Central Location
Considering all the amenities on the doorstep, the only slight problem was the fairly steep staircase from the street up to the front door. This is not a problem if one has normal mobility, but my wife had had a recent hip replacement and found it a little difficult. We knew this when we booked so this not a property negative, pers se. Just want folks to be aware of this fact.

Perfect location, lovely apartment.
We were greeted by Maria who was waiting for us at the apartment. She was so helpful and friendly and gave us some useful suggestions for dining and was on hand throughout stay. The apartment is above their cafe/ bar (which is really funky) and we spent two of our three evenings there, after we'd eaten elsewhere. Great cocktails, excellent coffee, lovely staff. The apartment itself is really, really great. Spacious, well equipped, bright and airy. Very clean and with the bonus of a terrace. Furnishings were stylish and comfortable, especially the bed. The open plan kitchen / living area works well and we cooked the first night (Waitrose and M&S are close by). Fossgate has a really good vibe and is an excellent location for exploring York. We found parking close by too. Highly recommended, would definitely come back, next time we're in York. Thank you Maria and Mike, we had a great time.

Fantastic Stay
Stayed at the apartment for 4 nights in August and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The apartment is beautiful, spacious, clean, so well appointed and a home from home. Mike was super friendly at check in and we had a good chat! The location of the apartment is just unbeatable. We also had coffee and cake in the Fossgate Social downstairs and sat in the garden which was lovely. We will be booking again really soon, absolute 5 star stay at a very reasonable price. Thank you!

Amazing apartment
Just returned from a 3 night stay at this apartment and it was amazing. Very spacious, modern and extremely clean. It is centrally located and all attractions are very close by. The apartment itself has everything you would need and more! Hosts were very friendly and even left fresh milk in the fridge for us to have a coffee! Cannot recommend it enough - We have already booked up to return in July.
