Whilst you couldn’t fault the friendly staff, the room I stayed in…
• If you like beds with mattresses made of concrete, this is the place for you! If you actually want to wake up refreshed and without severe backache, I’d choose another hotel.
• Whilst the room was clean, the furniture was damaged and looked very tired round the edges and up close.
• The blackout curtains would have worked better if they’d had been on a runner with a curtain string. The last couple of inches were never going to close.
• To be fair, out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in, the air con controls actually did work and it was efficient.
• I was a bit surprised having paid up front in full on hotels.com, to have then had to pay a £50 (refundable) fee on arrival. This has put me off staying in Hilton hotels in future.
• Advertising room service - great, I was looking forward to this. The small print? £5.00 tray charge. So, no, I didn’t order room service.
• Down in the bar, the drinks were over priced too. A Corona Cero = £5. In any supermarket you can buy a pack of 4 for that price.
• Excellent location for train station… but if trains and guard whistles aren’t your thing, and you want absolute peace and better double glazing… find a different hotel and further away.
