This was my first hotel for my first ever solo trip in Japan. The pros were definitely how close it is to Golden Gai as it’s a 1 minute walk away, BUT since it’s in/super close to Kanukicho, there were times that touts would literally be right outside of the entrance. The staff was super helpful and kind, but the major negatives I want to share about my stay are:
1. No fan/AC in the capsule beds, super hot and sweaty as a result
2. You need to take off your shoes upon entering, put them into a locker, give the front desk your key to the shoe locker and they give you a wristband with a key to your locker for your bags. Now, imagine you want to swap out your shoes because you’re going hiking or forgot your wallet in your locker - it felt extremely tedious and tiring as a result.
3. Breakfast is across the street at a different facility? Annoying because you had to go through the whole #2 process I said, but the staff were nice and the food was average.
Overall, the onsen area was very nice and the staff were great, but the actual bed area and logistics of the hotel are average at best. Definitely a “budget” option, but wouldn’t want to stay here more than 2-3 days max to enjoy Golden Gai.
