Great location near the city centre and next to the interesting and unique Gas Street Basin. Lots of food possibilities within easy reach and old fashioned pubs a short walk along the canal.
Positives:
- staff were lovely and polite.
- the hotel and room were clean.
- The room was large and spacious.
- The bathroom was clean and modern.
- there were also separate face towels which you don’t often get in hotels (usually only hand towels/bath sheets)
- Breakfast was tasty with good options.
- location is great for drinks/dinner, right in the heart of the mailbox.
- large bed in the room, felt like a super kingsize.
Cons:
- the walls are paper thin so you can hear people in their bedrooms and you can hear people walking around above you and you can hear full conversations and passing vehicles on the street.
- We couldn’t get the air-con to work properly (we couldn’t get the temperature up in the evening or down in the morning).
- the sink and shower drains were blocked, so much so that when I showered in the morning I had to set the power to half because otherwise the water overflowed onto the floor.
- the toilet seat also seemed broken as it was lopsided but weirdly couldn’t be moved into the correct position
- not a big deal but the lighting in the bathroom isn’t great for doing make up and the only other mirror in the room is on the back of the front door where there isn’t good lighting either (bit of a pain as we were staying over due to a wedding)
- the bed, whilst large, was hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were not comfortable either (also had very noisy sheets)
Overall, whilst I would like to say I would stay again, I don’t think I would.
Staff friendly room clean and cafe next door very good. Easy walk to Arena and good range of pubs / restaurants within 5 min walk.
Room very noisy - road outside . Didn’t realise our twin would have connecting doors could hear the conversation from adjoining room.
