The hotel is in a good location in downtown Birmingham - it is close to the International Convention Centre, Central Library and the Symphony.
The rooms are fairly basic, but comfortable.
They do serve a full buffet breakfast that is included.
The front door is card-access after hours for security, and they provide a dummy card to use in the room to keep the power on (e.g. to charge your computer if you have to step out of the room for a bit).
I was disappointed with little things that added up to a lack of attention to service.
The safe in my room was not working. After reporting it for the second time to the front desk on Saturday, I was told that it would not be fixed until the following Monday, when maintenance came back (which did not help me as I checked out early Tuesday morning).
The remote control battery cover was not present. The remote still worked if the batteries were held in place by hand. Even after this was reported, it was not corrected during the stay.
Supplies (like coffee stir sticks) were not replaced.
These all speak to a lack of attention to detail between guest (or even by housekeeping during the stay).
A light bulb went out, and that was replaced within 24h
There is an Espresso/Cappuccino Machine in the breakfast area. However, in the room they only had a kettle and instant coffee (not even a Keurig machine). In this era, this is not a high luxury.
The hotel does still over a good value, but there is a lack of attention to detail.
