A few issues, but overall good
Please provide a chair in the room the suitcase rack a waste of space
Please also provide a toilet brush, it embarrasing if you cant keep the toilet clean yourself, when sharing the room
The lighting was dreadful in the room....gloomy
But overall our stay was satisfactory and i would stay again, because if the central location. The breakfast was very good.

Good location, good bathroom, but access with a vehicle for drop off/pick is horrendous (nothing like the photo provided as the road space in front of the hotel is owned by the Council and wardens pass by every 10 minutes), also floorboards creak like crazy and walls are poorly insulated. You can get better value elsewhere.

Nice location petty about the rooms.
Hotel is in a good location and the bar seemed nice.
Room was small, not well furnished and the bed was uncomfortable.
Room was tiny compared to my parents room I booked for the same price. Horrid view of a skip on the roof. No heating, there was a tiny electric heater that had been placed in the room that barley did anything, and clicked constantly.
Bar downstairs is nice
The room was lovely. Quiet, with good blackout curtains and not too hot - perfect for a good nights sleep.

Not as grand as the name suggests
A little disappointed with our stay, the hotel isn't as grand as the name suggests!
The room was Ok, but a little tired and no plug by the kettle and tea tray.
Breakfast is probably one of the worst we've experienced, poor choice, cold coffee, toaster not switched on and staff just hanging around.
Amazing staff. Went above and beyond. Would rate higher than 5* if i could.

Really disappointed that we didn't have any information regarding the difficulty in locating the hotel by car, once we entered the city. We spoke too several people, who had the same experience.
After an hour of trying to get our room warm with the air conditioning, we were told by the receptionist that it wasn't working properly and were given a electric heater also the extractor in the bathroom didn't work. It's a real shame, because the Hotel itself is exceptional

Hotel staff were very unhelpful, no where to be found when trying to check in and very abrupt and unhelpful. Made me feel very un welcome for the minute I walked I the door. had to deal with a party going on in the room next to me all night on a wednesday evening. Wasn't the best but in a great location.
I was favourably impressed by the hotel staff. In particular, Ioan, one of the barman (an eclectic mix of East London and Wales) was very friendly and helpful even to the point of recommending a local restaurant, which lived up to his recommendation.
The hotel is old and looks like it may need a touch of TLC to its exterior but everything worked well enough such as the lifts and the bathroom fixtures and fittings.
Overall my experience was positive and I would stay there again.
We were here for a local wedding, 2 night stay. We asked front desk for more pillows but they never arrived, the room was cleaned late in the day and only 1 set of towels were given, I tried to call internally to front desk at different times over an evening and the next morning but no answer. I also called from my mobile and again no answer.
The room was dark with some very bright wall/floor lamps that werent dimmable so thankfully there was a table lamp i could move to the side of the bed and turn it away so it created a softer light.
The bed was hard but it would of had been ok for 1 night but 2 nights was a bit uncomfortable. The pillows were very flat which is why i wanted some more to watch tv in bed. The bathroom lighting, shower, extendable mirror and shower gel was really good. The wardrobe space was good and the tea tray and kettle were good.
The staff behind the bar were very friendly and the same for reception. Parking was easy although the spaces were very narrow.
The hotel feels like it needs money spent on the matresses and pillows and apart from that its a good hotel in a perfect location for what we needed.
