Initially good impression - very grand exterior & foyer, and room 212 was clean & contemporary. However, there must be hot water pipes running alongside & underneath room 212 as it was uncomfortably hot the entire time. Floors felt like there was underfloor heating, and leaving the window open & fan on high speed made no difference. We couldn't sleep the 1st night, and my family member was getting so hot that she was close to passing out. Spoke to reception the next morning, and she made up a rubbish excuse of this just being the way Victorian buildings are (even though our house is Victorian and has no such issue) and that air-con units couldn't be fitted because it's a listed building. Our request for a different room was denied. Later in the evening, we decided to speak to reception again to request a new room or check out 1 night early. Thankfully, there was a different receptionist who offered to move us to room 239. This room didn't have the same issue, although we could hear thuds from the ceiling at night & in the morning, the bathroom door couldn't close (too big for doorway) and no milk was provided with tea & coffee in the room. There were a few other guests making complaints when we were at reception, so we're not alone. No complaints about the cleaner - all friendly & did an excellent job. But because of our experience, won't be coming back
