Noisy at night though this followed a football game and many late night revelers.
Old tired hotel. Nice reception but it stops there. Charge for gym and pool of 5 pound which is wrong for the size of it.
Charge to leave luggage prior to leaving...
Staff were great , hotel not so!
The rooms were extremely hot and the temperature could not be changed.
Our room was very noisy until late at night which prevented restful sleep.
One of our party left something in the room after check out. We went back to collect it and staff insisted they had looked and it was not there. We had to ask several times for them to check again. The item was in the room!
One reason we book was for the pool and it was closed. Also, you had to pay a fee to use the pool. Parking was convenient. The rooms needed new carpeting - very stained and needed a better cleaning. Staff were great.

Good value, clean and safe
This is a lovely hotel right at the station in the city centre. It felt very safe and i appreciated the chain on the bedroom door for extra peace of mind as a solo traveller.
The staff were friendly and professional.
My room on the 4 floor was super clean, if a little tired looking. I liked the cosiness of the sloping roof, and it was a good size. I liked that there were soft pillows (firm pillows also if thats your preference)
The breakfast was exactly as ibwould have expected and was good enough with a good choice. I would have preferred eggs cooked to order, but I did like the little mini danish pastries on offer.
The hotel is in the city centre, with the train station on one side and a number of bars on the other, so its not going to be completely quiet, but it wasnt too bad and I slept well.

Liked: Room comfort
The reason I have given one star is not the rooms or the stuff rooms are nice stuff are very friendly and helpful but the hotel is pricing itself out not for the cost of the room but now they charge extra to use the facilities and parking has jumped from 15 pound to 22 pound and night
Didnt have breakfast in hotel, room was spacious, clean but a bit too warm

Staff excellent and friendly, breakfast was to a good standard, buffet style.
Unfortunately our room, 300, started to leak when it rained, but we were quickly re located, but only had a lower standard room available, the free chocolates helped with the inconvenience
Staff very friendly and helpful and room was clean we stayed in the family room which was great breakfast was good there was a good selection - downside there was a lot of noise from outside which went on until 2- 3 in the morning.

Older building with unavoidable stairs to access room. Close to train station and downtown sites.

No problems at all. Staff, food room etc all fine. Hotel is looking a little tired, in need of a little tlc. Will stay again, no probs.
The room was clean and comfortable. Checking was quick and seem less. Every staff member we met was kind and courteous.
We have stayed many times before and this is always our first choice when staying in Newcastle.
I stayed here ten years ago and wow, what a horrible decline. No hot running water, defensive staff and absolutely rubbish breakfast. I understand it’s an old building, but the room was filthy, cold and smelled disgusting. Do not stay here, plenty other nicer and cheaper stays in Newcastle.
