Poor parking on arrival outside space in disrepair and overgrown. Met by a man who hardly spoke English. Dirty/musty smell hit you when he opened the front door- wet carpet smell. Shown to the room through a large room with 1980’s furniture pushed against the walls. Opened the door to the corridor and the heat from the radiator hit you. On entering the room carpet dirty (years) not days - everything covered in a layer of dust. 3 cups provided no saucer. Bottom 2 had biscuit remnants inside. No spoons. Bathroom light not working. Bathroom sealant mouldy. Tea stains/drips down the cupboard fronts. Opened the draws. No bottoms/ broken.
I had taken my 2 grandchildren for a cheap couple of nights. Not expecting the ritz but cleanliness costs nothing. Tried to book somewhere else but nothing available at short notice. Saving grace bed sheets and towels were clean
Facilities are surprisingly good. En suite....continuous (very) hot water. Good bed , tv and tea making facilities. Building stiflingly hot including bathroom even though the rads were off!!!
Clearly a drain problem leading to smell in the corridors although to be fair most of torquay seemed to have the same problem.
The carpets and decor need to be addressed as a matter of urgency and then the rooms would be acceptable.
However it must be put into the perspective of £26 / night for a double room!!!!!!!!!!!
The staff were real nice.

I think the hotel is renovating. Looks a nice hotel, just need to modernise.
Avoid room 20 - decor falling off the wall, no smoke detector (it's in the drawer waiting to be attached to the ceiling). Road noise is amplified - very very noisy. No aircon so shutting the window to keep out the noise is unpleasant in the recent very hot weather. Noisy people in room above - you can hear their footsteps quite clearly and lots of tapping and shouting into the early hours too. Managed 2 hours sleep!!
Bad water leak into the bathroom from the room above.
No manager on duty when we departed for the day and expected to be very late, so left an explanatory note requesting another room for our second night.
Manager called me later in the morning, and arranged another room (no. 12), and remained contactable until after 11pm to make sure we could collect the room key when we returned.
That was great service by him.
Parking spaces are limited and very tight.
Property is old and very tired - it was probably very nice at one time.
Bathroom and bedding very clean - big plus point.
It is inexpensive so the maxim you get what you pay for applies.
Hotel looks abandoned lifts dont work no bar or snacks no food at all.windows broken over run with weeds. Stained carpets toilets leaked beer cans everywhere

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Room good but hotel not clean enough strairs are amd around inside not good .there is no one at reception but we called someone came for us.
The hotel was like a disused retirement home, it was in disrepair with broken windows taped together with black tape, the dust was so thick we could right our names in it, it also had an awful smell. Our first priority was to go out buy cleaning products and febreeze. The toilet wobbled, shower didnt work properly, xmas lights up in july. And to top this up as 3 girls travelling alone we had random knocks at the door by men that worked there that didnt understand english and they kept passing our bedroom window on the first floor from the outside fire escape. Others that were travelling with us had there reservations cancelled without notice even though the hotel was empty. BEWARE awful place.
If you want the backpacker hotel experience without flying to Thailand, this is it.
Not particularly clean, couldn't supply a cot or fridge for meds.
Staff mostly absent and generally felt like it was a front for a money laundering scheme.
Great location near the sea front!
This property is not for the posh people but for the down to earth people it was cheap and cheerful but totally acceptable for me it’s close to the beach and the number 12 bus route slightly longer walk to the town centre but easy doable… I would have no problem staying there again
Well it was cheap but toilet seat one fixing . Flush toulet and it falls off the wall . Wall paper hanging off. Shower well rusty and only one fixing. I hope they get it sorted. Maybe tell potential customers that work is under going . And work in progress
