I booked this in advance for the Halloween festival and so paid over the top, however it is a great location so I guess this is what you pay for. On arrival parking is limited and first come first served. People had abandoned their cars where they can even in ‘no parking’ spots! After we eventually found a space booking in was busy but ok, staff polite and professional.
My room is very, very bijou to say the least. You couldn’t swing a cat (not that I would want to)! There is a shower room and whilst clean, is tiny. The rainfall shower is nice, with an option of a ‘normal’ shower head. The toilet is squashed in at the side of the sink, very limited space, so much so the toilet roll holder is literally almost over the toilet bowl.
The double bed, for me was not comfortable at all, and the pillows were also uncomfortable, with no options of pillow choice obvious.
The tea and coffee making facilities are in the wardrobe due to the tiny space. can’t see two people staying comfortably in this room. Luckily my son and his girlfriend had a separate room which was a bit larger. There is a window overlooking the station which at least opened. It is clean throughout although the carpet is a bit manky looking. The bar was busy but nice, staff great.
At breakfast it is usual hotel food, nothing exciting. Fresh fruit was a nice selection.
Overall it was an ok stay, I have been in much nicer hotels for the money (and less).
It looks very grand but the rooms are another story.
