Aloha
This was our 5th trip to Maui, but the 4th time staying at the Hale Kai (House of the Sea). Our first time was about 15 years ago so the first comment here is the HOA does a super job maintaining this place. This is a relatively small campus (2 buildings), so it's easy to relax and know that you'll have a parking space. This is our first time in this updated unit, and it has a very quaint beach shack vibe, so it's as good or better than the pictures. Great location to all West Maui.
Pros:
- Direct, easy, responsive communication with the owners.
- Clean comfortable King bed and bedding and linens.
- Clean comfortable sectional in living area.
- Unit is convenient to the pool with sounds of the waves abundant.
- Mere steps to the ocean with easy access.
- The Honokowai Park is right next door, so you can get in some of your exercise routine on your vacay.
- Very safe here. We always open the windows front and back and leave them open the whole time allowing the breeze to cruise right through.
Only con:
- The TV is not "Smart" so it will not "mirror" your iPhone, so you'll have to pass on your favorite streaming. Local cable is provided however.
This place is calm, relaxing, family-like, so if your looking to have some rowdy times, you'll want to keep looking. But if your thinking glass of wine, waves and sunset...this is it.
If you're going to be here long enough for groceries I suggest stopping at the huge Safeway in Lahaina which has everything and more at good local prices.
